Review: Romeo and Juliet

5 out of 5 Stars
Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written early in the career of playwright William Shakespeare about two young "star-cross'd lovers" whose deaths ultimately unite their feuding families.
It was among Shakespeare's most popular plays during his lifetime and, along with Hamlet and Macbeth, is one of his most frequently performed plays. Today, the title characters are regarded as archetypal young lovers

This is one of most famous classic book in literature. I shouldn't explain why it is a highly recommendable read but I will tell you my point of view and some stuff that surprised me or that I found interesting.

The first thing that I didn't expect was the fast plot, the whole story goes on in only 4 days, little time for me. Or at least for a love story where the lovers get laid, married and died together by its passion. Maybe this is the master point of the play, you can actually imagine all those things happen in front of you even if you don't actually see the play.

You can see a lot of similarities between this book and nowadays normal young adult books, for example some of the phrases of Romeo and how he describes his love for Juliet and they way he acts are quite similar to the way some of our favorites guys in YA books act, I really find so many similarities between Edward Cullen (Twilight) and Romeo, and you should have guess Romeo and Juliet it's kinda annoying at some points if you are not a natural romantic.

There a lot of things that sometimes are a little bit too twisted with all of the family hatred and that kind of problems. I would defintly recommend to read this book not only because it a obligated reading but because it's a way I think to understand better modern literature.
